CVP is the first group to commit to offering the MentorVet Program to its newest Veterinarian Colleagues in partnership with Merck Animal Health.

Philadelphia, PA (July 28, 2021) Community Veterinary Partners (CVP) is honored to announce they are one of the first groups of animal hospitals to be partnering with Merck Animal Health, known as MSD Animal Health outside the US and Canada, to bring the newest mentorship program, MentorVet, to 50 of its newest Veterinarians.

A growing community of animal hospitals, CVP is dedicated to bringing joy to families by providing the best care possible to the pets they love. The five-month MentorVet program offers mentorship, financial, mental health and self-care coaching, training, and professional development to recent veterinary graduates. The addition of MentorVet to CVP’s mentorship program brings to light the importance of recognizing and managing the stresses that come with delivering exceptional patient care earlier in the veterinarian’s career.

“Mentorship is important to the CVP community because we know that it makes a world of difference to our newest colleagues, the profession and our practices,” said Dr. Laura Strong, Director of University Relations at CVP. “Being able to offer a program such as MentorVet, through our partnership with Merck Animal Health, will help us make that difference and we are excited to be one of the first groups to pass the opportunity onto our community of veterinarians. CVP is committed to ensuring our newest veterinarians are well prepared to successfully develop their careers as they are the future of veterinary medicine.”

MentorVet is being offered as a complement to the mentorship relationships and programs that exist today within CVP’s hospitals and across the CVP community. The participation of so many of CVP’s veterinarians in the MentorVet program will help to further strengthen the CVP community as they continue to grow and focus on providing the very best veterinary care to more pets within the local communities of their hospitals.

Founded by Dr. Addie Reinhard, DVM, MS, MentorVet aims to promote well-being among recent veterinary graduates by building community and providing resources and support to them in the start of the veterinary careers.

“We are thrilled to partner with CVP to offer our mentorship program to so many recent veterinary graduates,” said Dr. Reinhard. “It is evident CVP values the well-being of their veterinarians by investing in resources for their employees right at the start of their careers. Those values align perfectly with why we created this program, and I know that the veterinarians, communities, people, and the animals they love will benefit greatly from this program.”

The MentorVet Development Program is fully supported by Merck Animal Health as part of their unconditional commitment to education, supporting future leaders and preparing veterinary care professionals for a successful career in animal health.

“We firmly believe in supporting programs like MentorVet as a way to advance and support the profession,” said Joseph Hahn, DVM, Executive Director of the U.S. Companion Animal and Equine Professional Services at Merck Animal Health. “We are pleased to have CVP be one of the first groups to take advantage of this program because of their unwavering support of their own veterinary care teams and the industry as a whole.”

As more and more families adopt pets and need veterinary care, CVP will continue to devote resources to supporting those working within in the profession.
